The Direct Resourcing Think Tank (DRTT) is a unique online and face-to-face networking group that allows senior corporate Human Resourcing professionals to exchange ideas and discuss topical challenges and resourcing best-practice.
Since inception in December 2008 the group has rapidly grown to nearly 300 members and expanded from its origins in London to holding regional events, hosted by its members across the UK. Members include Human Resource Directors, Heads of Resourcing and Staffing Directors from the UK’s most prestigious companies.
Each event is limited to a maximum of 20 participants to ensure a high degree of interaction amongst the group. This approach has been adopted to create an open discussion environment rather than the more traditional conference approach, typically associated with this style of event. This ensures all participants gain answers and insights into the particular questions and issues affecting them and their respective businesses. Members typically attend 2 to 3 events per year enabling them to build their personal networks and brand.
“It was great to be able to discuss shared issues with senior Resourcers from different industries. To be able to confirm that you are doing the right things and at the same time learn from the experience of others is an opportunity not to be missed. The structure provided by the discussion topic format makes this a networking opportunity with a clear purpose and a real outcome.” – Mike Ashman – Resourcing Manager at AXA.
Individuals with the responsibility to lead and develop HR functions that are required to attract, engage and retain the best available talent within the market.
This open exchange of ideas enables participants to discuss and debate ideas amongst their peers within the industry during a two hour ‘think tank’. The individual events are knitted together by an invitation only LinkedIn group enabling ongoing contact and access to a wider network who have all participated at events.
The issues and topics discussed are tabled by attendees prior to each event to ensure that relevant issues are addressed. The two hour ‘think take’ is divided into 4 half hour sessions, each one initiated with a short presentation that acts as a catalyst for conversation
“I found the forum particularly useful in bringing together a like minded group of professionals. It was good to discuss our current issues and more importantly take away some useful and relevant ideas. I am really looking forward to attending the next event.” – David Mason, International Talent Acquisition Director at CH2M HILL
The DRTT enables you to create and build a credible personal network of individuals amongst your peers within the industry whilst gaining a unique insight in the direction and approach ‘best in class’ companies are taking to developing their talent strategies. You will also learn first hand about topical issues other sectors of the market are facing and draw upon their experiences to add value to your own.
In essence the DRTT enables you to reduce the time and investment required to research and trial talent strategies by gaining a direct insight into the approaches and directions other companies have taken and the successes or disappointments they have experienced.

Whilst each of us had issues particular to our own companies, there were a number of common ones, and the thought provoking ideas that were promoted to meet these certainly support the notion that this forum could be a more regular exercise.” – Dickon Moon Director of Strategic Sourcing & Development EMEA at Arise Virtual Solutions
